Job summary

Jobtailor seeks an experienced hardware engineer to lead FPGA, ASIC, and CPLD design for avionics hardware applications in a fast-paced R&D environment.

You will work on VHDL design and simulation, manage requirements in DOORS, and prepare DO-254 certification artifacts. The role involves cross-functional collaboration across multiple projects and teams, including leadership responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering or closely related field.
• 8+ years of professional design experience in FPGA/ASIC/CPLD.
• Experience with FPGA, ASIC, and CPLD design for avionics hardware applications.
• VHDL design and simulation experience.
• Experience with DOORS for requirements management.
• DO-254 certification artifacts experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform tasks across any portion of the FPGA design lifecycle.
• Design FPGA, ASIC, and CPLD devices for avionics hardware applications.
• Develop innovations that may result in patent applications.
• Create VHDL designs and perform FPGA simulation.
• Develop and manage requirements in DOORS.
• Prepare DO-254 certification artifacts.
• Define custom logic development project plans, schedules, and cost management objectives.
• Develop bids and proposals.
• Define complex product-area architectures.
• Analyze data to support development recommendations.
• Lead or contribute to small projects with moderate risks and resource requirements.
• Work across multiple projects and teams in parallel.
• Document technical data according to engineering policies and procedures.
• Act as a resource for less experienced colleagues.
• Build consensus and influence others on topics within the field.

Requirements

• Must be authorized to work in the United States
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited university/college in Electrical or Computer Engineering
• Minimum of 8 years of professional experience in design
• U.S. citizenship status required
• Must qualify as a U.S. Person for access to U.S. export-controlled information: U.S. lawful permanent resident, U.S. Citizen, or granted asylee/refugee status
• Experience with FPGA, ASIC, and CPLD design for avionics hardware applications
• VHDL design and simulation experience
• Requirements development and management in DOORS
• DO-254 certification artifacts experience
• Experience with Xilinx, Microsemi, Intel Quartus, Lattice Diamond, Microsemi Libero, and Xilinx Vivado
• Experience with Zynq and PolarFire devices, SoC/SoM applications, PCIe, AXI bus, SERDES, and DMA
• Experience with avionics interfaces and protocols including MIL-STD-1553, A429, A664, and TSN
• Experience with VHDL and UVM test benches
• Experience with Mentor Graphics Expedition Enterprise and HyperLynx PI/SI
• Experience in Mil/Aero/avionics, DO-254, and civil FAA certification
• Strong oral and written communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills
• Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs
• Ability to break down complex problems and apply critical thinking
