Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking an experienced RF/EW systems engineer to perform software integration and testing on NGAS programs and collaborate with EW suppliers for multi-function RF subsystems. The role emphasizes developing architectures, managing interfaces, and verifying requirements across hardware, software, and firmware teams.

Candidates should have extensive STEM education and demonstrated experience in Matlab, Python, C/C++, DSP, and model-based systems engineering.

Qualifications

Requires STEM degree with significant related experience (12+ years for B.S., 10+ for M.S., 8+ for Ph.D.).
Proven RF/EW experience including Matlab/Python/C/C++ models and algorithm development.
Experience designing/integrating RF equipment for airborne platforms; knowledge of NGAS procedures preferred.

Job description

Perform software integration and test on developmental NGAS programs
Contribute to software interface and management for Electronic Warfare subsystems
Develop functional architectures and analyze performance
Develop and manage requirements and interfaces
Verify and validate allocated requirements
Work directly with EW suppliers to develop and integrate multi-function RF subsystems
Travel up to 10% as required
Translate customer requirements into software specifications
Collaborate with engineers and program stakeholders to integrate avionics and mission subsystems
Work with hardware, software, and firmware engineers
Support performance-compliant design of Electronic Warfare algorithms for next-generation multifunction RF sensors
Develop solutions within system-interface, real-time digital-resource, and hardware constraints
Support maturation and verification in digital simulation and hardware-in-the-loop environments
Author test requirements
Collaborate on algorithm development for system functionality and efficiency
Develop supplier documentation, procurement specifications, and statements of work
Review supplier development artifacts
Document designs using schematics, diagrams, and specifications
Support development and integration of hardware subsystems and components
Develop integrated hardware integration and test
Perform functional and performance analyses
Conduct detailed trade studies
Estimate component, subsystem, and system performance in accordance with governmental and commercial standards
Configure, test, document, and troubleshoot avionics and mission systems

Requirements

Must have a Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university AND 12 years of related professional/military experience in Engineering; OR a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline from an accredited university AND 10 years of related professional/military experience in Engineering; or a Ph.D. AND 8 years of related professional/military experience in Engineering
Experience in RF/EW applications, including developing and applying models in Matlab, Python, and/or C/C++, along with experience in tracking and algorithm development
Experience designing, developing, integrating, and/or testing RF equipment for airborne platforms
Familiarity with 1 or more RF sensing modalities and their applications
Experience with digital signal processing
An active U.S. Government issued Top Secret SCI Security Clearance as well as Program Special access within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs
U.S. Citizenship is required for positions with a government clearance
Preferred: Demonstrated problem solving and troubleshooting skills
Preferred: Demonstrated ability to assimilate new concepts quickly and independently and work in a self-directed manner
Preferred: Experience designing, developing, integrating, and/or testing EW or Radar subsystems for airborne platforms
Preferred: Demonstrated strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work well in a close team environment
Preferred: Experience in model-based systems engineering using Cameo or similar SysML tools
Preferred: Experience with generating and managing requirements in DOORS
Preferred: Experience in performance analysis using MATLAB and Excel or similar tools
Preferred: Familiarity with Atlassian collaboration tool set (Jira and Confluence)
Preferred: Experience in supplier/subcontract management
Preferred: Experience with developing supplier documentation, performance-based specifications, and statements of work
Preferred: Understanding of NGAS Sector Engineering procedures
Preferred: Experience building supplier evaluation criteria and conducting technical evaluations, documenting results and selection
Preferred: Knowledge of electromagnetics in the RF spectrum (VHF through Ka bands)
Preferred: Experience decomposing, deriving, allocating and tracing requirements from system to component level
Preferred: Experience working on a multidisciplinary team and writing technical proposals
Preferred: Knowledge of system engineering design methods, including requirements analysis and flow-down, specification derivation and interface control documentation
