Job description

Overview

Geeks and Nerds (GaN Corporation) seeks an Electronic Warfare Engineer to design, develop, test, and deploy advanced electronic warfare systems and technologies. This role requires expertise in RF (radio frequency) systems, signal processing, and electromagnetic spectrum management to support defense and security operations. The EW Engineer will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop solutions that enhance the effectiveness of military operations in contested electromagnetic environments.

Responsibilities
  • Perform trade studies, modeling and simulations, and other analyses to predict component and system performance and to optimize design around established requirements.
  • Design and develop electronic warfare systems, including jammers, radar systems, situational awareness, and communications systems.
  • Develop hardware and software architectures to integrate systems and components into higher-level systems and platforms.
  • Assess EW-specific risks and develop a mitigation plan.
  • Analyze and process RF data to assess threats and communication information in the electromagnetic spectrum.
  • Develop algorithms for signal detection, classification, and countermeasure deployment.
  • Develop data analysis and presentation methods and tools to provide actionable information to the user.
  • Develop test plans, procedures, and reports for system verification and validation including environment and propagation effects.
  • Conduct laboratory and field testing of EW systems to ensure performance and reliability.
  • Analyze and manage electromagnetic spectrum usage to optimize system performance in congested and/or contested environments.
  • Ensure compliance with spectrum regulations and policies.
  • Assess emerging threats in electronic warfare, radar systems, and unmanned platforms and develop countermeasure strategies to mitigate threats.
  • Collaborate with government agencies and military stakeholders to define requirements and deliver solutions.
  • Work closely with software, hardware, and systems engineering teams to integrate EW systems into larger platforms (e.g., aircraft, ships, ground vehicles).
  • Prepare technical documentation, including system specifications, design reports, and user manuals.
  • Present findings and recommendations to internal teams and external stakeholders.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in electronic warfare, RF systems, or related fields.
  • Experience with EW system design, signal processing, or electromagnetic spectrum analysis.
  • Proficiency in modeling tools for RF engineering and signal processing (e.g., MATLAB, Simulink, LabVIEW or similar).
  • Familiar with laboratory tools including oscilloscope, signal and spectrum analyzer, SDR and RF Analyzer software.
  • Knowledge of radar systems, communication systems, directed energy and electronic warfare modules.
  • Familiarity with high level software programming languages for algorithm development.
  • Security Clearance: Secret clearance or ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
  • Preferred: Master of Science (M.S.) in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
  • Knowledge of military, defense, and national security systems.
  • Familiarity with DoD standards and regulations (e.g., MIL-STD, FAR/DFARS).
  • Knowledge of electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) and interference mitigation techniques.
  • Experience with HW/SW/FW development.
  • Proficient in board-to-system level architecture.
  • Experienced with VHDL design/synthesis/analysis tools.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Electronic Warfare Professional - CEWP) are a plus.
Special Requirements
  • Must be a US Citizen and successfully complete a U.S. government background investigation.
  • Must have a Secret clearance or be capable of obtaining an interim Secret clearance.
