Job summary

Stripe is seeking a Staff Engineer for the Service Deployments team in the United States. You will own the deployment platform and drive large, cross-team initiatives that affect thousands of deploys daily.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Proven ability to lead large, ambiguous infrastructure projects end-to-end.
• Deep expertise in distributed systems and deployment orchestration.
• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and container-based deployments.
• Strong background in service reliability and incident response.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end delivery of large, ambiguous infrastructure projects — from initial design through production launch and long-term reliability.
• Architect the deployment platform's evolution — multi-service autodeploy pipelines, Kubernetes-native primitives, and fleetwide container migration.
• Extend deploy anomaly detection and coverage to earlier traffic stages; design regression detection APIs and self-service onboarding for anomaly detection.
• Lead the host-to-container fleet migration, ensuring production deployment continuity during transformation.
• Own reliability and operational excellence for the deployment platform; lead incident response and reduce toil.
• Build deployment event infrastructure — design event schema, durability, and integration contracts for observability.
• Collaborate across Core Change Management on projects spanning deployment orchestration, cloud resource management, and change-safety tooling.
• Set the technical bar with design reviews, standards for deployment safety, and mentor for high-stakes architectural decisions.
• Decompose complex platform challenges into scoped work and guide engineers with decisive technical direction.
