Job summary

Illumio in Sunnyvale, CA is seeking a senior software engineer to design and implement distributed, scalable systems that power Zero Trust segmentation across hybrid cloud environments.

You will own important features, mentor engineers, and collaborate with customers and field teams to shape a trusted, high-performance platform built with Go, Python, and modern container tech. This onsite role requires deep systems knowledge, strong debugging skills, and bold ownership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s in computer science or equivalent required.
• 5+ years building distributed and scalable software systems.
• Proficient in Go, Python, or Java.
• Experience with Kubernetes and container tech.
• Strong data structures, algorithms, networking, and debugging skills.

Responsibilities

• Build a new, unprecedented way to orchestrate Zero Trust Segmentation down to the application level.
• Enhance container platforms such as Kubernetes, Istio, OpenShift, AKS, EKS, GKE.
• Own and design critical features and subsystems; defend designs with peers.
• Deliver robust, scalable, secure, and maintainable implementations for enterprise customers.
• Mentor junior engineers, new-grads, and interns to grow as engineers.
• Collaborate with field teams and customers to shape the product.
