Job summary

BambooHR is hiring a Staff Agentic Software Engineer to lead the technical direction of a product area, focusing on AI-powered agentic work that spans multiple teams. You’ll define specifications, delegation, verification patterns, and safety controls while ensuring scalable, secure delivery.

You will guide architecture, establish readiness criteria, mentor engineers, and partner with product leadership to shape roadmaps.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering experience with production-grade software.
• Experience setting agent patterns and AI-powered solutions used by multiple teams.
• Ability to design systems and architectures with performance and data-flow tradeoffs.
• Experience defining specification standards across teams and context engineering.
• Mentor engineers and shape technical direction beyond a single team.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical direction of a product area and how multiple teams specify, delegate, and verify agentic work.
• Define the standards for specification quality and review gates across teams.
• Establish frameworks for when work warrants agentic execution vs direct implementation.
• Drive large-scale cross-team initiatives with coordinated human and agentic contributors.
• Set verification practices to keep agent-produced work safe at scale and within risk boundaries.
• Coordinate security architecture for agentic work and partner with security teams.
• Create readiness criteria and observability for safe delegation of work.
• Build scaffolding for agent delegation, prompts, and test harnesses.
