BambooHR is seeking a Staff Agentic Software Engineer to drive the technical direction of multiple teams building AI-powered, scalable software for HR. You will define agentic work standards, coordinate with product leadership, and ensure secure, auditable execution across product areas.

This remote role emphasizes continual learning, structured specifications, and mentoring engineers to elevate the agentic craft while delivering high-quality, production-ready solutions.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering experience with ownership of technical direction across a product area.
• Track record of AI-powered solutions that teams reuse.
• Experience designing systems and data flows for scalable products.
• Ability to define specification standards and review gates across teams.
• Design agent workflows for parallel execution with human checkpoints.
• Strong focus on security and privacy in agented workflows.
• Proven ability to mentor engineers and raise technical direction beyond one team.
• Strong written and verbal communication for leadership alignment.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical direction of a product area and how teams specify, delegate, and verify agentic work.
• Define specification quality standards and review gates.
• Build heuristics to determine when agentic vs direct implementation is needed.
• Coordinate cross-team efforts to deliver value at scale.
• Set verification practices to keep agent-produced work safe.
• Establish security architecture for agentic work and data-flow boundaries.
• Create readiness criteria for safe delegation of work.
• Develop prompts, instructions, and repo conventions for agents.
• Resolve high-risk technical decisions across the product area.
• Collaborate with product leadership to shape roadmaps.
