Job summary

BambooHR is seeking a Staff Agentic Software Engineer to shape the technical direction of a product area and define agentic work patterns across teams. You will set standards for specifications, visibility into AI-driven workflows, and scalable security practices while guiding multiple teams toward safe, productive automation.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering experience building production software.
• A track record of AI-powered solutions used across teams.
• Experience designing scalable architectures and data models.
• Defined specification standards across multiple teams and review gates.
• Proven ability to mentor engineers and lead across teams.
• Strong communication for leadership and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical direction of a product area and set agentic work patterns.
• Define specifications quality standards and review gates.
• Establish when work should be agentic vs. direct implementation.
• Coordinate large-scale efforts across multiple teams and contributors.
• Set verification, security architecture, and risk controls for agentic work.
• Develop readiness criteria and observability for safe delegation.
• Build prompts, agent instructions, and playbooks for teams.
• Mentor engineers and shape technical direction beyond a single team.
