Job summary

Boston Dynamics is seeking a Staff Electrical Engineer to join the Atlas team. You will design compact electronics for dense electromechanical systems and work hands-on in the lab, building and debugging hardware for next-generation humanoid robotics.

You will collaborate across disciplines to develop power electronics, motor drives, and high-speed data interfaces, and document designs through EVT. Strong PCB layout, Linux, and programming skills are essential; experience with CAD and HDI

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Electrical Engineering
• 5+ years of electronics design experience
• Power electronics experience
• Motors and motor drives
• High-speed data technologies (Ethernet/PCIe)
• HDI and heavy copper layout
• PCB fabrication and assembly knowledge
• Python, C/C++, or MATLAB with Linux CLI
• SolidWorks or CAD experience

Responsibilities

• Design electronics for robotic actuators and end-effectors
• Develop circuit designs for motor drives, power supplies, analog sensing, MCUs, and high-speed data
• Analyze and optimize circuits using SPICE
• Design PCB layouts with HDI and heavy copper
• Collaborate with mechanical engineers to miniaturize PCBs
• Perform failure analysis and debugging of complex systems
• Develop design and test documentation and conduct EVT
• Use Linux tools to configure networks and run software on robots
• Utilize lab equipment to validate designs and debug issues
