Job summary

Illumina is seeking a Staff Electrical Engineer to lead the lifecycle management of high-performance sequencing product electrical systems. You will own end-to-end LCM projects from NPI to end-of-life, guiding a sub-team and coordinating across hardware, software, and sourcing to optimize performance and reliability.

You will oversee flagship instruments like NovaSeq X and 6K series, manage EOL and supply risks, and drive cost-reduction initiatives while ensuring compliance with SOPs and PLM

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (8+ years experience)
• Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering (6+ years) or PhD (3+ years)
• Experience leading full-lifecycle management of electronic systems

Responsibilities

• Lead LCM projects end-to-end across EOL/shortage responses, redesign, qualification and documentation.
• Oversee electrical-system lifecycle of flagship sequencers from development through end-of-life.
• Address EOL and supply-shortage issues; manage supplier changes and design modifications.
• Provide technical direction for HPC/Compute Engine server domain; own and mentor sub-team.
• Troubleshoot server-class hardware (POST/boot, PCIe, BIOS/firmware) and translate findings into durable solutions.
• Collaborate with software/firmware, product development and sourcing to balance performance and cost.
• Ensure compliance with SOPs/WIs and PLM platforms; champion testing and fixtures.
• Maintain EMI/EMC and safety compliance; support certification documentation.
• Mentor engineers and grow the team; sustain cross-functional relationships.
