Job summary

Burns & McDonnell in Kansas City is seeking a Staff Electrical Designer to contribute to planning, site evaluations, analytical designs and construction documentation across a diverse project portfolio.

You will design electrical schematics, grid layouts, power and lighting systems, and control schemes while ensuring compliance with codes and standards. Collaboration with project teams and continued refinement of drawings are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in drafting technology or related field with years of experience.
• 9 years of progressive detailing and design experience.
• Advanced knowledge of 2D/3D design and office software (AutoCAD, MicroStation, Excel).

Responsibilities

• Design electrical schematics, grid layouts, power and lighting systems per standards.
• Plan production drawings, perform calculations on non-routine, complex tasks.
• Create and refine drawings; implement changes on active projects.
• Analyze reports, drawings and tests to plan and design projects.
• Apply codes and specifications related to design requirements.
• Review drawings for quality within budget and schedule; QA for scope.
• Coordinate with PMs, engineers and designers in multi-discipline teams.
