Job summary

Rivian in Irvine, CA is seeking an Advanced Manufacturing Engineer to optimize DFMA and manufacturing processes for future products. You’ll collaborate with product design, virtual engineering, equipment and integration teams to dissect every part and influence design and manufacturing.

The role reports to an Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Manager. You will lead studies, reduce assembly complexity, and drive build-ready tooling and process layouts while supporting validations at Rivian’s

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or similar technical field.
• 7+ years of experience in an engineering role related to DFMA, product optimization, manufacturing process or equipment development.
• Knowledge in manufacturing and industrial engineering principles (OEE, cycle time analysis, DVA, Cp/Cpk, GR&R, ergonomics, DOE, quality control, equipment selection, ROI, error proofing, supply chain & logistics)
• Demonstrated ability to solve complex technical problems using first principles, bias toward action
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and with cross functional teams
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience working within 2D & 3D CAD environments and various engineering tools

Responsibilities

• Conduct DFMA studies at a part, assembly, and system level to provide design feedback
• Lead static and kinematic studies to simulate assembly and equipment interactions
• Drive content reduction, assembly simplification, and build-in-quality
• Lead PFMEA, build sequence, and process layout development; host new product virtual builds with cross functional teams
• Support prototype and design validation builds: design and deliver proto manufacturing tooling, prepare bill of process, lead manufacturing trials, etc.
• Support manufacturing validations builds at Rivian’s manufacturing plants, working closely with factory integration and equipment teams
• Actively engaged in value engineering, challenge assumptions and break the status quo
