Job summary

Opiniion is seeking a Staff DevOps Engineer to own the reliability, scalability, and security of our AWS infrastructure in Lehi, Utah. This hybrid role balances running live systems with building the next generation platform, partnering with senior architects to define a scalable foundation and tooling strategy.

You will set the bar for how we build, deploy, and operate infrastructure, while mentoring engineers and driving best practices across CI/CD, IaC, observability, and security.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in DevOps, SRE, or cloud infra leadership.
• Deep AWS expertise across EC2, VPC, ECS/EKS, RDS, S3, Lambda, IAM, CloudWatch.
• Hands-on IaC with Terraform or CloudFormation.
• Proven CI/CD experience (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI).
• Strong scripting (Python, Bash) and automation.
• Experience with observability tools and security best practices.
• SOC 2 or similar compliance experience.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable, secure AWS infrastructure.
• Balance live production with building new platform infrastructure.
• Collaborate with architects to design infrastructure foundations.
• Own and evolve CI/CD pipelines and automation gates.
• Drive IaC practices across the org.
• Manage core AWS services (EC2, VPC, ECS/EKS, RDS, S3, Lambda, IAM, CloudWatch).
• Improve observability, monitoring, and alerting.
• Lead incident response and root cause analysis.
• Drive cost optimization and capacity planning.
• Embed security practices in deployment.
• Mentor engineers on DevOps best practices.
