Woburn Rehabilitation and Nursing Center is seeking a Staff Development Coordinator to oversee educational programs, orientation, training, and competency development for facility staff. You will ensure safe, high-quality resident-centered care while complying with regulations.

The role emphasizes collaboration with the Compliance Officer, Administrator, and Nursing leadership to create annual training plans, maintain calendars, and track training completion. A sign-on bonus of $5,000 is offered.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in staff development, employee education, nursing education, healthcare training.
  • Experience in a skilled nursing or long-term care environment preferred.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to develop, coordinate, and maintain multiple training programs and schedules.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the annual facility assessment to determine knowledge and skills.
  • Identify educational needs through an educational needs assessment.
  • Collaborate to develop an annual training plan.
  • Develop and maintain educational calendars based on requirements.
  • Plan, schedule, conduct, and oversee orientation programs.
  • Coordinate refresher training and ongoing education for all personnel.
  • Track attendance and completion to ensure compliance.
  • Review content to reflect current standards and policies.
  • Develop or revise training materials and use outside resources when appropriate.
  • Collaborate with managers to establish staff competencies.
  • Assist with evaluating employee competencies.
  • Monitor and evaluate training effectiveness with leadership.
  • Schedule training sessions minimizing disruption to care.
  • Maintain training records, materials, and speaker qualifications.
  • Provide continuing education opportunities for certifications.
  • Maintain documentation related to continuing education and competencies.
  • Assist with education budget and communicate needs to Administrator.
  • Assist with Nurse Aide Training Curriculum as applicable.
  • Participate in meetings as required.

Job Summary

Woburn Rehabilitation and Nursing Center is seeking a dedicated and organized Staff Development Coordinator to oversee and coordinate educational programs, orientation, training, and competency development for facility staff.

The ideal candidate will be passionate about professional development and committed to ensuring that employees receive the training and education necessary to provide safe, high-quality, resident-centered care while maintaining compliance with facility policies and state and federal regulations.

Major Duties & Responsibilities
  • Participate in the annual facility assessment to determine the knowledge and skills required among staff to meet residents' needs.
  • Identify and prioritize educational needs through a comprehensive educational needs assessment.
  • Collaborate with the Compliance Officer, Administrator, Director of Nursing, and department leaders to develop an annual training plan.
  • Develop and maintain educational calendars based on identified facility and regulatory requirements.
  • Plan, schedule, conduct, and oversee orientation programs for new personnel.
  • Develop, schedule, and coordinate refresher training and ongoing education for all personnel.
  • Track attendance and completion of required training to ensure compliance with regulatory and facility requirements.
  • Review educational content regularly to ensure it reflects current standards of practice, regulations, and facility policies.
  • Develop or revise training materials as needed and utilize qualified outside resources when appropriate.
  • Collaborate with department managers to establish and evaluate staff competencies required to meet residents' needs.
  • Assist with evaluating employee competencies based on knowledge, technical skills, and behavioral requirements.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of training programs in collaboration with facility leadership.
  • Schedule training sessions with flexibility to minimize disruption to resident care and maximize staff participation.
  • Maintain accurate training records, attendance records, educational materials, speaker qualifications, and individual employee training files.
  • Provide opportunities for staff to obtain continuing education credits required for maintaining certifications and licensure.
  • Maintain documentation related to continuing education and employee competencies.
  • Assist with developing and managing the education budget and communicate resource or equipment needs to the Administrator.
  • Assist with developing the Nurse Aide Training Curriculum, when applicable, and submit required materials to the appropriate state agency.
  • Participate in facility, departmental, and committee meetings as required.
Compliance & Resident Safety
  • Treat all residents with dignity and respect while promoting and protecting their rights.
  • Maintain compliance with all facility policies, procedures, and applicable state and federal regulations.
  • Maintain confidentiality of protected health information in verbal, written, and electronic communications.
  • Follow infection control, safety, and hygiene policies and procedures.
  • Report suspected abuse, neglect, exploitation, misappropriation of property, or mistreatment of residents immediately according to facility policy.
  • Report noncompliance, confidentiality breaches, retaliation, and discrimination to the appropriate personnel.
  • Participate in emergency preparedness, life-safety drills, and required emergency training.
  • Report work-related injuries, illnesses, and occupational exposures according to facility policy.
  • Complete all required training and competency evaluations as a condition of employment.
  • Remain current on professional standards, regulations, laws, and best practices through continuing education, professional development, seminars, and relevant publications.
Qualifications
