Job summary

Databricks is seeking a Staff Designated Engineer to partner with Field and Engineering teams, delivering high-touch support and tailored solutions for our largest customers in the DNB segment. You will apply Apache Spark and related data technologies to triage and resolve complex issues and unblock critical technical challenges.

You will develop playbooks, train customer teams on performance tuning, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve the customer experience and outcomes

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience designing, building, and troubleshooting distributed computing applications.
• 4+ years delivering production-scale Spark/ML/AI solutions using Python, Java, or Scala.
• Hands-on expertise with Data Lakes, SQL databases, and Cloud-based Data Warehousing/ETL tools (Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery).
• Deep knowledge of Spark core internals, Delta/Iceberg, JVM optimization, and memory management.
• Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) with CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, and alerting experience.
• 3–5 years in customer-facing roles such as Technical Account Manager or Solutions Architect.
• Advanced proactive problem-solving skills and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Triage and resolve complex product issues for strategic customers.
• Build rapid POCs and monitor deployed solutions with Databricks engineering.
• Develop playbooks and a knowledge base for Spark, ML, and AI workflows.
• Train customer teams on performance tuning, debugging, and best practices.
