Job summary

Launch Potato is seeking a senior data scientist to build models that decide which carrier an auto insurance shopper sees on our marketplace. You’ll optimize bidding and media spend, push data-driven insights into production, and own models end-to-end—from data discovery to deployment and monitoring.

This is a hands-on, individual contributor role with an ML engineer collaborating on the production side. Remote-first, East Coast hours.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on applied data science with measurable business impact.
• Models used to drive paid media decisions: spend, bidding or ad serving.
• Explainable models down to loss function and architecture choice.
• Understand how today’s bids shape tomorrow’s training data; handle late labels, sparse features or drift.
• Own models end to end: data, deployment and monitoring; bring a point of view.
• Expert Python and SQL.

Responsibilities

• Build models that decide which carrier auto insurance shoppers see on our click wall.
• Own the buying models behind media spend and ROAS.
• Put conversion data to work in production and monitor model drift.
• Collaborate with an ML engineer on production side for deployment.
• Expand from auto insurance to other verticals as scope grows.
• Work in a remote-first environment with East Coast hours.
