Job summary

Launch Potato is seeking a senior data scientist to build models that decide which carrier an auto insurance shopper sees on our click wall and to own the buying models behind our media spend. You’ll work on data challenges like sparse sessions, late labels and drift, deploying production models with an ML engineer.

This remote-first role is East Coast hours, with the impact of driving ROAS and scalable marketplace bidding across verticals over time.

Qualifications

• 5+ years hands-on applied data science with measurable business impact.
• Models drive paid media decisions: spend, bidding or ad serving.
• Explain loss function and architecture choices; discuss training data implications.
• End-to-end ownership: data discovery through deployment and monitoring.
• Expert Python and SQL.

Responsibilities

• Own insurance marketplace media buying within the first two months.
• Match users to carriers via model outputs and optimize ROAS.
• Deploy and monitor production models with collaboration from an ML engineer.
• Extend to additional verticals over time.
