Job summary

Oncor Electric Delivery is seeking a Data Scientist Staff to analyze vast data sets from the power grid, meters, and asset information to enhance safety, reliability, and service across Texas. The role emphasizes building robust data infrastructure, cleaning data, and developing advanced modeling techniques with SQL, Python, and big data tools.

Qualifications

• Eight years data analytics experience without a degree
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science or Business Administration with four years data analytics experience
• Master’s degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, or Business Administration and two years data analytics experience
• Applicants with Certifications in Data Science such as DASCA, Data Science Council of America, or similar are encouraged to apply
• Proficient with SQL, Python, .Net and has exposure to Spark, Cassandra, Hadoop or similar

Responsibilities

• Gathers, extracts, manipulate, analyze, curate, and model data using analytical and statistical tools
• Identifies new sources of data and new methods to improve data collection, analysis, and reporting
• Maintains a database 'sandbox' or 'workbench' environment to achieve the required reports
• Ensures the efficient performance of queries, algorithms and analytical functions to generate reports
• Design complex reports or presentations to monitor and analyze assets, events, communications, energy usage, customer information, and other related use cases
• Works independently and receives minimal guidance
• Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience
