Job summary

Vercel Inc. is seeking a Staff Engineer to lead a next-generation Data Platform, architecting scalable systems that power real-time analytics and AI initiatives. You will write production-grade code, drive data governance, and mentor a growing team to deliver high‑impact data capabilities across products.

You will define the technical vision, collaborate with leadership, and ensure data availability and low-latency analytics using Kafka, ClickHouse, Tinybird, and Snowflake in a cloud environment.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in data engineering, data architecture, or related roles, with at least 5 years at principal level.
• Experience designing and operating large-scale data infrastructures in fast-paced environments.
• Proficient in cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and big data services.
• Strong background in data governance and security, ensuring regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement a next‑generation data platform supporting batch and real‑time integrations.
• Collaborate with engineering, product, and leadership to align technical strategy with product goals.
• Define data ingestion, enrichment, and storage guidelines, overseeing ETL, data modeling, and warehousing.
• Develop end‑to‑end solutions across the tech stack and mentor engineers to drive excellence.
• Partner with Security, Compliance, and Legal to ensure data protection and fault tolerance via monitoring and incident response.
• Drive architectural decisions and roadmaps, evaluating build‑vs‑buy and integrating vendor solutions.
• Work with data scientists and ML teams to evolve infrastructure for advanced analytics and AI workloads.
• Act as a decision-maker for data architectures and establish multi‑phase roadmaps aligned with business objectives.
