Todyl, Inc. is seeking a staff-level data engineering leader based in Denver to set the technical direction for our data ingestion and storage systems.

You will own multi-quarter initiatives from ambiguity to stabilization and work as a peer to Architecture, AI/ML, and product teams, ensuring scalable, reliable pipelines. You will mentor engineers, design for multi-year horizons, and champion observability, cost awareness, and safe AI tooling as the team tackles high-volume data across our

Qualifications

• 8+ years of end-to-end commercial software and application development.
• 3+ years of commercial software development for a multi-tenant cloud platform.
• Demonstrated experience owning complex, ambiguous initiatives end-to-end and setting technical direction for a team.
• Python and SQL for data work.
• Data ingestion and streaming pipelines under high volume and velocity.
• Data storage and modeling: relational and columnar stores, data warehouses, and search and analytics engines (Quickwit, Elasticsearch).
• AWS and cloud-native, multi-tenant infrastructure.
• Observability for data systems (Grafana, Prometheus).
• Git and modern development workflows.

Responsibilities

• Set the technical direction for data ingestion and storage systems from ambiguous problem to stabilization.
• Architect and implement scalable data storage and ingestion solutions with trade-offs.
• Establish architectural principles, patterns, and observability standards; build monitoring and debugging into designs.
• Design and implement data ingestion pipelines into search/analytics platform (Quickwit, Elasticsearch) for real-time analytics.
• Partner with Architecture, AI/ML, and product teams; deliver data for BI and integrate pipelines into the portal.
• Mentor engineers, lead design reviews, and raise team capability.
• Participate in on-call rotation; resolve incidents and address toil.
• Estimate complex multi-quarter work; manage dependencies and risks; communicate delays to leadership.
• Reduce technical debt; make systems self-managing beyond handoff.
• Treat code review and testing as quality levers with comprehensive coverage.
