Job summary

Xometry is seeking a Staff Data Engineer to join the Data Platform team. This senior individual contributor will own data architecture decisions, design scalable pipelines, and set the engineering bar for data systems.

You will partner with engineering, product, analytics, and ML teams to enable fast, high-quality decisions across the platform. You will lead the data layer for the DFM AI + IQE integration with partners, building bidirectional pipelines, governance, and observability while

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a STEM field and 5+ years of data engineering experience.
• Deep expertise with cloud data warehouses (Snowflake preferred) including optimization and performance tuning.
• Expert-level SQL and strong Python proficiency; comfortable with additional languages as needed.
• Hands-on experience building and optimizing data pipelines, architectures, and data sets using modern tooling (dbt, Airflow).
• Experience planning enterprise data architecture across multiple systems and domains, including cross-boundary integrations.
• Knowledge of batch and streaming processing (Kafka, Spark, Kinesis) and scalable data stores (Apache Iceberg).
• Experience with CI/CD, automated testing, contract testing, and schema evolution in data pipelines.
• Strong grasp of AWS data ecosystem and cloud-native infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end data architecture and engineering solutions across multiple systems and domains.
• Architect and build the data layer for partner integrations and bidirectional data pipelines.
• Design scalable batch and streaming data pipelines and data models for real-time needs.
• Own end-to-end data engineering lifecycle from acquisition to delivery and observability.
• Define best practices for data modeling, CI/CD, testing, and schema evolution across teams.
• Collaborate with engineers, product, analytics, and partner teams to translate requirements into robust solutions.
• Mentor engineers through design reviews and code reviews, elevating team capability.
• Stay current with data engineering tools and patterns and adopt them as needed.
