Job summary

Commure is hiring a Staff Software Engineer for the Data Integrations team to scale clinical and financial data flows between Commure and external endpoints. You’ll own architecture, ensure durability, and drive platform direction with a focus on security and reliability.

You will mentor engineers, collaborate with platform and product teams, and ship with Observability, SLOs, and strong production practices in a fast-moving healthcare tech environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent extensive experience.
• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience with architectural decisions on multi-quarter projects.
• Deep experience building and operating distributed systems at scale, high-throughput pipelines, data-intensive services.
• Strong data-layer and concurrency judgment involving relational databases and caching.
• Production experience with GCP and container orchestration (Kubernetes, Knative) and a modern backend language (Python preferred; Go a plus).
• Ability to translate business goals into technical direction and mentor engineers.

Responsibilities

• Set the technical direction for the platform and define what to build and how to execute.
• Own architecture of data movement, orchestration, pipelines, and data stores; scale them.
• Forecast scaling and reliability challenges and address them proactively.
• Define observability and production readiness (monitoring, logging, tracing, dashboards, SLOs).
• Collaborate with platform and product teams to protect data and enforce security/compliance.
• Lead end-to-end across complex, cross-system initiatives (design, migration, rollout).
• Make pragmatic tradeoffs balancing security, correctness, reliability, performance, and speed.
• Mentor Senior and Staff engineers and elevate engineering practices.
• Own initiatives in a fast-moving environment and fix root causes.
