Job summary

Pinterest is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to build the data systems that help teams understand and manage infrastructure usage and cost. You’ll lead the design and hands-on delivery of reliable data products, pipelines, models, and services that support infrastructure planning, cost attribution, and budget workflows.

In this individual-contributor role, you’ll shape technical direction, navigate complex cross-team work, and make infrastructure data more accurate, consistent, and useful.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field
• Experience designing, building, and operating production data systems or data-intensive services at scale
• Strong Python and SQL with tested production code
• Deep experience with ingestion, ETL, data modeling, and orchestration
• Experience designing data interfaces and improving data quality
• Led complex technical work across teams
• Ability to influence through technical judgment and mentor engineers
• Experience with cloud environments (AWS or similar)
• Demonstrated ability to use AI to improve speed/quality in workflows
• Integrity in handling sensitive data and governance

Responsibilities

• Set technical direction and roadmap for reliable, scalable infra data products
• Design, build, and operate ingestion pipelines, data models, and services for usage, cost, ownership, and planning
• Improve data contracts, quality checks, reconciliation, and monitoring
• Lead cross-team initiatives from problem framing to rollout and adoption; mentor engineers
• Leverage AI to scale impact and automate data transformations and interfaces
