Job summary

Pinterest is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to strengthen data science at scale. You will lead a high-performance team that partners with the Core Data Science organization, shaping data foundations and building tooling for analytics across product and business domains.

You'll mentor analytics engineers, advance instrumentation, embrace AI to accelerate analysis, and collaborate with product managers, engineers, designers, and researchers to deliver impactful insights.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience working with data in a fast-paced, data-driven environment.
• Ability to manipulate large data sets with high dimensionality and complexity; fluency in SQL (or other database languages) and a scripting language (Python or R).
• Experience with workflow orchestration and ETL/ELT on large datasets and DAG dependencies.
• Track record of delivering analytics solutions by turning open-ended goals into defined objectives.
• Strong cross-functional collaboration and accountability to drive insights into actions.
• Proven ability to apply AI to improve speed and quality in day-to-day workflows with proper verification.

Responsibilities

• Lead a diverse team of analytics engineers and mentor for an inclusive culture.
• Develop best practices for instrumentation and experimentation and share with product engineering teams.
• Build and prototype AI tools and pipelines to provide scalable insights while understanding data structures and metrics.
• Use AI to accelerate analysis, prototyping, and documentation with validation and QA.
• Collaborate with Data Scientists and Engineers to enable self-service of key datasets and insights.
• Document tools and datasets and drive data quality and democratization across Pinterest.
• Work cross-functionally to communicate insights with product managers, engineers, designers, and researchers.
