Job summary

Life360 is seeking a Staff Data Engineer to scale our data infrastructure for a product used by millions of families worldwide. You will own end-to-end data pipelines from ingestion to modeled datasets in our Databricks Lakehouse, leveraging AWS services, Kafka/Kinesis, and Airflow for orchestration.

You’ll collaborate with Analytics, Data Science, and Product teams, building AI-ready tooling and Daragility in data processing.

Qualifications

• 10+ years working with high-volume data infrastructure.
• Core stack includes Databricks, AWS, Spark/Spark Streaming, Airflow, SQL and Python.
• AI-native mindset with daily use of AI tools and ethics in deployment.
• Experience with data quality frameworks and automated monitoring.
• BS in CS, Engineering, Math, or equivalent hands‑on experience.

Responsibilities

• Design and manage scalable data platforms powering real-time analytics and batch processing.
• Own the full data lifecycle: ingestion, ETL, storage, and serving with AI-assisted tools.
• Ingest data from streaming and batch sources, unify into a common platform.
• Architect data models (Bronze/Silver/Gold) in Databricks with clear schemas.
• Automate, test, and harden data workflows with CI/CD and quality checks.
• Build AI-ready tooling and chatbots to empower non-technical users.
• Collaborate with analytics, data science, and product teams to deliver production data assets.
• Contribute to IaC for provisioning cloud data infrastructure.
• Lead and mentor teammates to improve engineering velocity and reliability.
