Job summary

Renew Home is seeking a Staff Data Engineer to shape our end-to-end data platform strategy, real-time streaming, and lakehouse ecosystem for North America. You will architect high-throughput, fault-tolerant infrastructure processing telemetry from millions of devices to enable analytics, insights, and ML initiatives.

This high-impact, individual contributor role includes mentoring engineers, influencing engineering culture, and setting design standards across teams.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of software and data engineering experience with architectural leadership at scale.
• Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent.
• Proven design/ops experience with batch and real-time streaming architectures (Kafka, Kinesis, Lambda).
• Deep expertise in data lake architectures (S3, Iceberg, Delta Lake) and telemetry data.
• Proficiency in Python and SQL with CI/CD and Infrastructure as Code.
• Mentor engineering teams and drive cross-functional alignment across multiple squads.

Responsibilities

• Define long-term data architecture vision and standards for the data platform.
• Lead fault-tolerant batch and real-time streaming data infrastructure across millions of devices.
• Collaborate with application and analytics teams to deliver data solutions.
• Direct database architecture and performance tuning for PostgreSQL Aurora and Redshift.
• Set high standards for data pipelines, monitoring, and uptime; participate in on-call rotations.
• Mentor senior and mid-level data engineers and promote best practices.
