Job summary

H1 in the United States is seeking a Staff Data Engineer to shape the architecture and long-term direction of our core data platform, while remaining hands-on as we grow into leadership roles. You'll lead scalable ETL/ELT pipelines, improve data quality, mentor engineers, and collaborate across Product, Infrastructure, Security, and Compliance to deliver reliable data at scale for healthcare datasets.

This role requires deep cloud-native experience in Spark, Python, SQL, and modern data lake

Qualifications

• Highly experienced in designing and scaling distributed data platforms.
• Proven ability to lead technical initiatives and mentor engineers.
• Deep knowledge of modern data architectures and performance optimization.
• Excellent communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Architect, build, and scale distributed ETL/ELT pipelines and large-scale ingestion frameworks across healthcare datasets.
• Lead evolution of Data Lake architecture focusing on scalability, observability, reliability, and cost optimization.
• Own and improve data quality, validation, normalization, and standardization workflows across thousands of global sources.
• Design and optimize batch and near real-time data processing frameworks in cloud-native environments.
• Mentor engineers through architecture reviews and best practices, shaping long-term platform strategy.
