Job summary

Renew Home is seeking a Staff Data Engineer to shape our end-to-end data platform strategy, streaming pipelines, and lakehouse ecosystem. You will architect high-throughput, fault-tolerant data infrastructure across millions of devices to enable analytics and ML initiatives.

This role is a high-impact, individual contributor position with technical leadership across the org. You will mentor engineers, influence culture, and help define how we work in a fully remote environment.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in software and data engineering with leadership.
• Experience with real-time streaming and batch data pipelines.
• Proficient in Python and SQL.
• Strong data architecture and incident management.
• Mentor engineers and drive best practices across teams.
• Experience with AWS, GCP and data lakehouse tech.

Responsibilities

• Define and drive long-term data architecture vision and standards.
• Lead fault-tolerant batch and real-time streaming data infrastructure.
• Collaborate with application and analytics teams to deliver data solutions.
• Direct database architecture and performance tuning across PostgreSQL Aurora and Redshift.
• Set high standards for data quality, monitoring, and uptime; participate in on-call rotation.
• Mentor senior/mid-level data engineers and promote best practices.
• Evaluate and integrate modern data tech (Python, Redshift, AWS/GCP, Terraform) for evolution.
