Job summary

Headway is seeking a Staff Data Engineer to define the future state of our data infrastructure and set enterprise-wide data standards. You will lead high-impact, multi-team initiatives and collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and software engineers to ensure reliable data assets.

You will mentor engineers, shape the data platform roadmap, and drive data quality governance while partnering with senior stakeholders to deliver scalable solutions across the organization.

Qualifications

• 9+ years of experience in data engineering.
• Expert-level proficiency in Snowflake, dbt, Apache Airflow, and Python.
• Deep mastery of advanced data modeling techniques and their production usage.
• Architectural ownership and ability to define the data platform roadmap.
• Experience mentoring data engineers and elevating team maturity.
• Marketplace/two-sided platform experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Define the future state of Headway's data infrastructure and standards.
• Drive scalable, optimized data models and data quality governance.
• Lead cross-functional, multi-team initiatives with strong stakeholder alignment.
• Mentor engineers and influence architectural decisions and technical debt management.
• Act as the primary technical interface between Data Engineering and senior business stakeholders.
