Job summary

Headway is hiring a Senior Manager, Data Engineering to define and lead the technical strategy for Headway's data infrastructure, powering analytics, machine learning, and operational decisions at scale.

You will build and mentor a high-performing data engineering team, own the data platform (warehouse, ingestion, dbt, orchestration), and partner with Data Science, Analytics, Product, and Engineering to align on roadmaps and reliability.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in data engineering or related roles.
• 3+ years of experience managing and developing teams.
• Experience building and scaling data platforms in a cloud-native environment.
• Proven ability to partner across Data Science, Analytics, and Product Engineering.
• Deep expertise in data warehouse design, pipeline architecture, and transformation frameworks.

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow a high-performing team of Data Engineers with a culture of ownership and craftsmanship.
• Develop quarterly roadmaps with cross-functional partners and align resources for timely, high-quality work.
• Own the architecture and reliability of the data platform (data warehouse, ingestion, dbt, orchestration).
• Define and champion data standards, observability, SLA frameworks, and data quality monitoring.
• Design data infrastructure that powers analytics, experimentation, ML models, and operational tooling at scale.
• Engage directly with strategic technical challenges and translate data decisions for executives.
