Job summary

Medidata, a Dassault Systèmes brand, is seeking a Staff Data Engineer to lead scalable data ingestion, migration, and lakehouse initiatives. You will drive architecture, mentor engineers, and advance AI-enabled data experiences within a hybrid NY-based team.

Hybrid role with cloud-native platforms (AWS/Snowflake/dbt/Airflow) and modern data pipelines. Strong leadership and communication are essential for cross-team collaboration.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional software or data engineering experience.
• Experience designing and operating large-scale production data systems.
• Strong understanding of ETL/ELT, CDC, streaming, data modeling and migration.
• Proficiency in SQL and languages like Python, Java, or Scala.

Responsibilities

• Lead architecture and implementation of scalable data ingestion, migration, CDC, streaming, and ETL/ELT solutions.
• Provide technical leadership for large-scale data migrations.
• Design reusable data products and services for analytics and AI/ML.
• Drive modernization of cloud data warehousing and lakehouse architectures.
• Design scalable data models, APIs, and integration patterns.
• Improve data quality, observability, reliability, and security.
• Lead design reviews and collaborate across teams to deliver complex initiatives.
• Mentor engineers and establish engineering patterns and best practices.
• Leverage AI-assisted tooling to accelerate development and documentation.
• Identify opportunities to apply Generative AI in data experiences.
