Job summary

CVS Health is seeking a Staff Data Engineer to design, build, and scale our data pipelines and platforms. You will mentor engineers, drive architectural direction, and partner with data scientists and product teams to deliver robust data solutions.

In this senior IC role, you’ll work hands-on with Python, SQL, Spark, and cloud-native services, ensuring operational health, data quality, and scalable infrastructure across our health data platforms.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of hands-on experience in data engineering or a similar role, with a proven track record of designing and implementing large-scale data systems.
• Proficiency in Python and strong proficiency of SQL.
• Azure and Databricks experience is required.
• Data warehousing concepts, ETL/ELT, and modern data lake architectures.
• System design to build scalable and resilient data systems.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and build scalable, reliable data pipelines and platforms.
• Drive architectural direction for data ingestion, transformation, and storage.
• Mentor and coach data engineers on best practices and code quality.
• Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and product managers to translate business needs into robust data solutions.
• Ensure operational health with monitoring, alerts, and logging to prevent bottlenecks and failures.
• Lead adoption of new tools and approaches to enhance the platform and the team.
