Job summary

Burns & McDonnell seeks a Staff Civil Engineer for diverse transmission and distribution projects, leading civil design from concept through design. You will modify drawings, design components, and ensure quality, while mentoring junior engineers and coordinating with other disciplines.

You will perform field measurements, compile data, and prepare client-facing materials. A strong ABET-accredited degree with FE exam or higher, plus CAD/analysis software proficiency, is expected.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited civil engineering program degree with 3 years' civil eng experience.
• FE exam passed or PE preferred; consulting experience is a plus.
• Advanced degree in civil engineering adds value.
• Strong knowledge of civil engineering techniques and procedures.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work analytically in a quantitative environment and think critically.
• Proficient with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MathCAD and related tools.

Responsibilities

• Perform civil design from conceptual phase through design completion.
• Modify and review production drawings for transmission and distribution projects.
• Design civil components per project manager requirements.
• Apply Civil engineering concepts, codes and procedures.
• Research data, compile studies, write specifications.
• QA/QC of drawings and data across CAD software.
• Prepare information for client presentations and contracts.
• Provide leadership and mentoring to junior engineers.
• Perform field inspections, measurements or calculations.
• Ensure compliance with safety policies and effective cross-discipline communication.
• Support other duties as assigned.
