Job summary

Burns & McDonnell in Denver seeks an Assistant Civil Engineer to support licensed engineers in delivering world-class designs across power, process, healthcare, facilities, and more. You will assist with concept-to-design, CAD updates, drawings, and field measurements, collaborating with project teams to meet budget and client needs.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering (ABET preferred) with strong communication, teamwork, and CAD skills.

Qualifications

• ABET accreditation strongly preferred and internship/consulting experience is a plus.
• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program is required or strongly preferred.
• Proficient in standard civil engineering techniques, principles and procedures.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential.
• Proficient computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite) and CAD/BIM tools.

Responsibilities

• Assists in the civil design of projects from the conceptual phase through design completion.
• Assists with modifying and reviewing production drawings for a variety of projects (power, process, healthcare, facilities, etc.).
• Assists in designing civil components per project manager requirements.
• Applies basic civil engineering concepts, principles, practices, codes, and procedures.
• Assists with data collection, studies and reports.
• Assists with updating drawings in CAD-related software.
• Supports client presentations, shop drawing review, and contract administration.
• Performs field inspections, measurements, or calculations for clients.
• Complies with policies and standards.
