AFFIRM is building the Trust and Safety Foundations within Checkout Engineering to support risk, compliance and data quality at scale. As a Staff Software Engineer, you will shape technical strategy, guide complex initiatives across systems, and raise the bar for engineering excellence in a high-impact domain.

You will own roadmaps, collaborate across teams, and act as a force multiplier, with strong ownership, judgment, and a passion for reliability.

Qualifications

• 8+ years designing, developing and launching backend systems at scale.
• Experience with highly available distributed systems.
• Ability to write high quality, understandable code.

Responsibilities

• Set technical strategy for your team on a yearly horizon.
• Collaborate with product, design and analytics to ensure sustainability and risk control.
• Advocate for scalable technical solutions and processes.
• Own team operations, monitoring, playbooks, and on-call readiness.
• Set code design standards and promote them across the org.
• Mentor teammates and grow engineering capabilities.
