Job summary

United States Digital Space LLC is seeking a Staff Software Engineer for the Trust and Safety Foundations team within Checkout Engineering. The role focuses on building foundational data capabilities and reliable systems to support regulatory compliance and risk management at scale.

You will shape technical strategy, drive complex initiatives across teams, and raise engineering quality through mentorship and design leadership.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience designing, developing and launching backend systems at scale.
• Experience building highly available distributed systems.
• Ability to translate ambiguity into clear technical plans.

Responsibilities

• Set technical strategy for the team on a year-long horizon.
• Collaborate with product management, design & analytics to ensure sustainability and informed trade-offs.
• Act as a force-multiplier by defining technical solutions and operational processes.
• Own the team’s reliability and on-call readiness with monitoring, playbooks and incident response.
• Set code review and design standards and mentor other engineers.
