Job summary

Temporal is hiring Staff Software Engineers across multiple backend teams. You will design, build, and maintain significant portions of our backend for highly scalable, multi-tenant services, ensuring features are robust while keeping the system simple and maintainable.

You’ll focus on core backend features, provide tests and documentation, and contribute operational visibility with logs, metrics, alerts, and runbooks.

Qualifications

• Experience in large-scale distributed systems design focusing on reliability and scalability.
• Operational experience in production systems.
• Experience writing concurrent code in production.
• Knowledge of Elasticsearch or ClickHouse for observability or data storage.
• Ability to improve team velocity and deal with multi-tenant backends.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement core backend service features.
• Provide appropriate test coverage for unit, integration, and performance for your feature ownership area.
• Document design choices and operational knowledge to successfully deploy and run service with those features.
• Provide appropriate service level logs and metrics to make features operational for cloud service setup.
• Provide appropriate alerts, dashboards, and runbooks for production.
