Job summary

Collectors is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to steer the Payments domain, shaping architecture across gateways, payments methods, and transactional workflows. You will drive secure, scalable services in C#/.NET within AWS/Kubernetes, while coordinating with marketplace, vault, and finance teams to ensure reliable money movements.

You will mentor engineers, define standards for observability and security, and champion an AI-first approach to tooling and process improvements.

Qualifications

• Eight+ years of engineering experience with a track record of shipping and scaling products.
• Expert-level backend engineering in C#/.NET, owning complex API surfaces and data consistency.
• Full-stack experience across React, TypeScript frontends, APIs, and data stores.
• Deep payments/fintech expertise including gateway integrations, idempotency, webhook reliability, tokenization, and PCI compliance.
• Strong database and data-modeling skills in relational and NoSQL databases.
• Production AWS and Kubernetes depth with infrastructure-as-code (CDK/Terraform).
• Observability-focused with Datadog dashboards and distributed tracing.
• Security-minded with a focus on payment security and certifications.
• AI-first mindset with familiarity with AI coding assistants and tooling.

Responsibilities

• Own the architecture of the Payments domain end to end, including C#/.NET services, AWS/Kubernetes workloads, data stores, and gateway integrations.
• Define and lead multi-gateway strategy and migrations, ensuring safe payment flows from initiation to settlement and reconciliation.
• Set security, compliance, and resilience standards (PCI-DSS, tokenization, idempotency, webhooks, audit controls).
• Lead complex, multi-quarter delivery projects with cross-functional coordination and clear value-cost planning.
• Translate business requirements into technical solutions across Payments, Marketplace, Grading, Vault, Finance, Security, and platform teams.
• Mentor senior and mid-level engineers, promote knowledge sharing, and foster cross-team collaboration.
• Lead an AI-first approach by establishing standards for AI tools, reviews, testing, and security.
