Job summary

Collectors Holdings, Inc. is seeking a Staff Software Engineer (Backend) to own the Payments domain architecture end to end, including gateway integrations with Stripe and PayPal, and to drive secure, scalable payment pipelines across the Collectors ecosystem.

You will lead cross-functional initiatives, mentor engineers, and shape the org’s AI-enabled tooling for payments. This role is on-site in Santa Ana, CA with possible on-site collaboration as needed.

Qualifications

• 8+ years engineering experience with leadership of multi-engineer projects.
• Expert-level backend with C#/.NET and API design experience.
• Full-stack exposure across React/Svelte/TypeScript frontends and distributed services.
• Strong knowledge of payments/fintech, including gateway integrations and PCI considerations.

Responsibilities

• Define the payments domain architecture end to end across services and frontends.
• Lead multi-gateway strategy across Stripe, PayPal, and others with safe migrations.
• Establish security, compliance, resilience, and observability standards.
• Deliver complex projects spanning 1–2 quarters with clear value-cost framing.
• Collaborate across Payments, Marketplace, Grading, Vault, Finance, Security, and platform teams.
• Mentor engineers and promote knowledge sharing and coaching.
