Job summary

LaunchDarkly is seeking a Staff Engineer to shape the future of software delivery on the Guardian team, prototyping new product concepts at the intersection of feature flags and observability. You will operate with high autonomy to validate ideas and define direction for net-new product areas that expand Guardian's value.

You will bring deep domain expertise in observability, collaborate with product, design, data science, and engineering to architect scalable features, and stay at the forefront

Qualifications

• 12+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Deep familiarity with observability ecosystem (APM, distributed tracing, OpenTelemetry, error tracking).
• Strong architectural understanding of data platforms, backend services, and cloud-native infrastructure.
• Experience leading 0-to-1 product development from exploration to validated direction.
• Demonstrated ability to work autonomously with minimal direction.

Responsibilities

• Prototyping / 0-to-1 innovation, lead exploration of new product concepts at the intersection of feature flags and observability.
• Observability domain expertise and thought leadership to redefine real-time impact of software changes.
• Collaborate with cross-functional partners to architect and advance observability products.
• Stay at the forefront of development trends, observability, and data-driven product evolution.
• Proactively identify opportunities for product and user experience improvements and lead implementations.
