Job summary

DAT Freight Solutions is seeking a Staff Backend Software Engineer to lead the design and delivery of core backend services. You will tackle complex challenges, set architectural direction, and champion best practices across engineering.

You will mentor engineers, own high-availability systems, and collaborate with product, DevOps, and frontend teams to ship high-quality, end-to-end solutions.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of backend software development experience, with senior/staff engineer ownership of complex, high-throughput services.
• Deep Node.js/TypeScript expertise, building and operating Express-style HTTP APIs at scale.
• Proven experience owning Tier1 customer-facing transaction systems with high availability and latency requirements.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and implementation of large-scale backend systems and microservices in Node.js.
• Drive automation and best practices: testing, code reviews, CI/CD, and infrastructure-as-code.
• Architect and maintain robust AWS-based services (EKS, MSK, S3) and monitor health and performance.
