Job summary

Verkada in San Mateo, CA is seeking a Staff-level Backend Engineer to own the licensing ledger and revenue recognition systems. You will drive end-to-end features, ensure auditability, and collaborate with Finance, Accounting, and Product.

You will lead architecture direction, enforce strong observability and SLOs, and mentor others while scaling a double-entry system as Verkada grows.

Qualifications

• 8+ years building backend services with strong correctness, consistency, and durability at scale.
• Depth in financial or transactional systems: ledgers, billing, revenue recognition, or payments.

Responsibilities

• Own the double-entry accounting ledger that reconciles licensing into daily revenue recognition.
• Design and lead the systems behind upmarket licensing: metering, billing, and packaging for enterpriseCustomers.
• Build reconciliation and controls for daily close and auditability for auditors traceability.
• Partner with Finance, Accounting, Revenue, and Product to translate revenue policies into precise system behavior.
• Lead major features end-to-end with design/code reviews and mentoring.
• Drive observability, SLOs, and incident learning with blameless culture.
• Shape roadmap as Verkada scales and matures.
