Hostaway is seeking a Staff Backend Engineer to lead the 0-1 Trust Accounting subsystem. You will shape the architecture from day one and own production-grade backend services for a secure, auditable financial platform. Collaborate with product, finance, and legal teams, while mentoring peers and ensuring reliability.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering experience, incl. staff-level work.
• 8+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 2 years operating at a Staff Engineer or equivalent level.
• Backend systems experience in production
• Strong architectural instincts and pragmatic tradeoffs
• Experience influencing multiple teams and standards
• Proficiency with AWS, Kubernetes, CI/CD, and production operations
• Golang production experience
• Nice to have: accounting/ledger domain exposure

Responsibilities

• Architect a Greenfield Trust Accounting system and define the technical vision.
• Build production-grade backend services that are secure, scalable, and auditable.
• Establish quality gates, testing, and CI/CD integration for reliable delivery.
• Promote engineering best practices, observability, and security across teams.
• Collaborate with product, design, finance, and legal to deliver a cohesive product.
• Mentor engineers through reviews, architecture guidance, and pairing.
