Job summary
Hostaway is seeking a Staff Backend Engineer to design and deliver a new 0-1 Trust Accounting subsystem. This greenfield project will shape the financial operations of Hostaway’s customers, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and auditable records.
You will lead architecture, set technical direction, and drive production-grade backend services in a highly collaborative, remote-first environment. You will mentor engineers, influence across product, design, finance and legal, and own reliability,
Qualifications
- 8+ years of software engineering experience, with ≥2 years at Staff Engineer level.
- Backend focus with production-grade services and Golang.
- Experience building scalable, reliable systems with observability.
- Strong architectural instincts and cross-team influence.
- Experience with AWS, Kubernetes, and CI/CD in production.
- Nice to have familiarity with accounting/ledger concepts.
Responsibilities
- Architect greenfield Trust Accounting subsystem and define technical vision.
- Build core backend services with security, auditable data, and reliability.
- Raise quality through testing, gates, and CI/CD integration.
- Promote best practices in design, observability, and security.
- Collaborate with product, design, finance, and legal teams.
- Mentor engineers through code reviews and architectural guidance.
