Job summary

United States Digital Space LLC is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to drive the technical roadmap for our Databases (Relational and KeyValue). You will influence multi-region, high-performance datastore solutions and own operations, monitoring, and reliability for hundreds of databases at scale.

You will work with product, analytics, and design to ensure sustainability and trade-offs are well understood. The role emphasizes ownership, code quality, and talent development within a remote-first

Qualifications

8+ years designing, developing and launching backend systems at scale using languages like Python or Kotlin.
5+ years of hands-on Database Expertise with Relational/Distributed SQL such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, TiDB/Vitess with performance tuning and data access patterns.
Experience with AWS, MySQL, Spark, Kubernetes for highly available distributed systems.
Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a related field.

Responsibilities

Set technical strategy for the team on a year-long time scale and align with business-impacting projects.
Collaborate with product, infrastructure, and SRE teams.
Design and build scalable datastore components for a multi-region, high-performance platform.
Develop control planes for management and self-service of hundreds of databases at scale, including migrations and disaster recovery.
Collaborate across teams to ensure sustainable database solutions and manage risks.
