Lightfield is hiring a Software Engineer, Backend, to own foundational product capabilities for an AI-native CRM. You will design data models, APIs, and migrations, delivering fast, reliable, and observable backend services.

This role supports work from San Francisco or Cambridge, collaborating with senior engineers and product teams to scale the platform. You will shape the data layer, authorization, and metering, enabling durable workflows and multi-tenant reliability for a growing set of

Qualifications

• 7+ years of software engineering experience with backend systems.
• Experience owning significant product-facing systems from design to production.
• Strong judgment on data models, APIs, migrations, and rollout.

Responsibilities

• Own core product capabilities end to end from requirements to operation.
• Design shared abstractions for UI, API, agents, and internal teams.
• Evolve a schema-flexible data model on Postgres with runtime changes.
• Build systems for authorization, history, and metering visible to customers.
• Collaborate with product teams and customers to turn needs into architecture.
• Make high-throughput services fast, reliable, and observable.
• Debug across application, database, and distributed workflows.
• Decide when a focused fix suffices or a durable primitive is needed.
• Raise the technical bar through design leadership and reviews.
