Job summary

Grafana Labs is hiring a Staff-level Backend Engineer to build the first production services for a context layer management system. This fully remote role focuses on ingestion, storage, retrieval APIs, and agent-facing integrations within a scalable SaaS platform.

You will shape architecture, ensure reliability, and work with autonomous, cross-functional teams. Compensation is SEK 878,578 – 1,054,294 annually for Sweden, with equity and additional benefits.

Qualifications

• Production-grade, user-facing software systems experience.
• Hands-on AI technologies and practical mindset.
• Quick prototype release, feedback & iteration.
• Experience with cloud-native environments (AWS, GCP, Azure).
• Experience using observability tools to monitor systems.

Responsibilities

• Build the core backend services for context ingestion, indexing, retrieval orchestration, and APIs.
• Define and implement a scalable multi-tenant SaaS foundation with isolation, quotas, audit logs, and background jobs.
• Develop agent-facing retrieval workflows and integrations for AI agents and internal tools.
• Collaborate with product and infrastructure to balance rapid experimentation with long-term reliability.
• Instrument services with metrics, logs, traces, alerts and dashboards for observability.
• Contribute to architectural direction, service boundaries, storage choices, API contracts and deployment patterns.
• Communicate effectively across teams in a dynamic, collaborative environment.
• Own the AI solutions built, ensuring they are scalable, maintainable and aligned with user workflows.
