Job summary

Grafana Labs is a fully remote company delivering AI-native data intelligence systems. We seek a Staff-Level Backend Engineer to own core backend services, multi-tenant SaaS foundations, and APIs for AI agents and tools.

You will work with cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure), implement observability, and drive architectural decisions while collaborating across product and infra teams to balance speed with reliability. Remote role for US/Canada applicants.

Qualifications

Experience building production-grade backend/services.
Practical experience with AI technologies and GenAI/prompting.
Familiarity with cloud-native environments (AWS, GCP, Azure).
Experience delivering software to production used by customers.
Strong collaboration and ownership mindset.

Responsibilities

Build core backend services for ingestion, indexing, retrieval orchestration, API access, and system administration.
Define a scalable multi-tenant SaaS foundation with tenant isolation, quotas, and audit logs.
Develop APIs and interfaces for AI agents, MCP tools, CLIs, and internal apps to retrieve context and signals.
Collaborate with product and infra teams to balance rapid iteration with long‑term reliability.
Instrument services with metrics, logs, traces, alerts, and dashboards to monitor performance.
