Grafana Labs is seeking a Staff-level Backend Engineer to build the first production services for our context layer management system. You’ll design core backend architecture for ingestion, storage, and retrieval, with multi‑tenant SaaS foundations and strong observability.

You’ll work in a highly autonomous, remote environment, collaborating with product and infrastructure teams to move from prototype to production‑grade deployments, while shaping technical direction and API contracts.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering production-grade software in a cloud-native environment.
• Hands-on AI/GenAI work with practical outcomes and users.
• Familiarity with observability tools to monitor systems.
• Ability to work autonomously in a remote, cross‑functional team.
• Proven track record shipping production services to users.

Responsibilities

• Design and ship core backend services for context ingestion and retrieval.
• Build a scalable multi-tenant SaaS foundation with isolation and quotas.
• Develop agent-facing retrieval workflows and APIs for AI tools.
• Collaborate across product and infrastructure to balance speed and reliability.
• Instrument services with metrics, logs, traces, and alerts for reliability.
• Contribute to architecture, deployment patterns, and engineering practices.
• Communicate effectively in a dynamic, collaborative environment.
• Own AI solutions end-to-end, ensuring scalability and maintainability.
