Job summary

Kodiak Robotics is seeking a Staff Autonomy Perception Engineer in Mountain View, CA. You will shape the perception stack, lead state estimation and multi-modal fusion, and drive robust tracking in real-world conditions.

This role combines advanced AI and traditional methods to build reliable autonomous perception systems. You will mentor engineers, set technical direction, and partner across teams to ensure perception improvements contribute to system safety and reliability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or higher in a relevant field; advanced degrees preferred.
• Expertise in sensor fusion, state estimation, and tracking.
• Strong C++ development for high-reliability systems.

Responsibilities

• Define and lead learned scene estimation direction for Kodiak Driver.
• Fuse data across camera, radar, lidar, thermal, and IMU.
• Improve multi-target tracking and track maintenance for reliability.
• Develop robust algorithms for noisy measurements.
• Build tooling, metrics, and visualization to accelerate progress.
• Set high technical standards via reviews and mentorship.
• Collaborate with autonomy teams to translate perception into safety.
